Creative Manager

This role reports to and partners with the Marketing Director (Director). The Creative Manager will manage and provide guidance for all creative projects agreed to by the Marketing team. This is includes clear communication of brand standards, project deliverables and successful management of timelines. The successful candidate will help enable MarketShare's vision in the community.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of MarketShare and its mission
  • Collaborate with creative teams to develop appropriate out-reach efforts to targeted communities
  • Provide execution guidance related to ongoing campaigns and projects
  • Refine brand standards and communication as appropriate
  • Provide analysis and reporting of creative team efforts
  • Attend monthly directors meetings
  • Manage creative talent including hiring and training (as needed)

Graphic Designer

The role of Graphic Designer reports to and partners with the Creative Manager. They are responsible for creating and maintaining print and online design assets and projects related to MarketShare community initiatives.They also provide design guidance to enable clear messaging and communication across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain program materials across multiple platforms (e.g., brochure, newsletter, flyers, banners, posters, invitations)
  • Work with other MarketShare teams to support online web assets

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum working knowledge of layout, illustration and graphic editing tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Students and freshly minted design graduates are encouraged to come spread their wings.

Time Commitment

Volunteer Manager

Reporting to and in partnership with the Volunteer Director, the Volunteer Manager will act as the first point of contact for our volunteers through email and occasionally on the phone.  

Responsibilities

  • First and foremost: Appreciate our wonderful volunteers and do everything you can to ensure their experience is awesome

  • Answer volunteer questions regarding roles and responsibilities and upcoming volunteer events

  • Assist efforts to recruit new volunteers

  • Maintain and update records of volunteer hours 

  • Collaborate with MarketShare team members to generate innovative solutions

  • Attend meetings as necessary

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Communication skills: The Volunteer Manager must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with all current and potential volunteers as well as the MarketShare team to ensure that all volunteer needs are met. 

  • Time management: The Volunteer Manager must be able to balance their coordination responsibilities while returning all e-mails in a timely fashion. 

  • Social skills: The Volunteer Manager will be interacting with a wide range of people from the public to MarketShare volunteers and staff. As such, the Volunteer Manager must be personable and friendly.

Volunteer Director

Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director, the Volunteer Director will oversee MarketShare's volunteer needs and the volunteer program.   

Responsibilities

  • Devise short- and long-term strategies for new volunteer outreach and current volunteer engagement and retention
  • Establish and maintain systems for MarketShare's volunteer needs including onboarding, record management, and learning and development
  • Collaborate with MarketShare team members to generate innovative solutions
  • Attend meetings as necessary

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Communication skills: The Volunteer Director must be able to communicate efficiently and effectively with all current and potential volunteers as well as the MarketShare team to ensure that all volunteer needs are met.

PR Coordinator

The Public Relations Coordinator reports to and partners with the Public Relations Manager. Main responsibilities include managing effective and clear communication for MarketShare and its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop effective communication strategies related to MarketShare's activities, agenda and accomplishments
  • Collaborate with creative and other MarketShare teams to ensure proper PR materials are available at community events and promotions
  • Arrange public appearances, lectures, contests, or exhibits to increase community awareness and to promote goodwill
  • Study the objectives, promotional policies and needs of MarketShare to develop public relations strategies to promote positive community awareness
  • Confer with other MarketShare leaders to provide guidance related to current community trends, key interests or concerns
  • Prepare and deliver speeches to further public relations objectives, as needed

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge and command of  the English language (e.g., structure, content, meaning, rules of composition, grammar)
  • Ability to communicate with and relate to the community at large
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination methods across various media (written, oral, visual media)
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics.

Social Media Coordinator

We’re looking for a talented and driven Social Media Marketing Coordinator to join our volunteer staff at MarketShare! Reporting to and in partnership with the Social Media Manager, the Social Media Coordinator will develop and implement social media strategies for MarketShare via social networking platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will contribute significantly to raising awareness about MarketShare and promoting MarketShare's mission.

Responsibilities
Would include at least one of the following:  

  • Maintain the official MarketShare Facebook page and facilitates Facebook conversations to engage fans and build likes  
  • Tweet regularly, engage others on Twitter, and build followers of the organization
  • Maintain Pinterest and Instagram accounts
  • Maintain postings for events and volunteer opportunities
  • Prepare and distribute bi-monthly email newsletters
  • Prepare blog posts highlighting MarketShare's presence and progress 
  • Track statistics monthly
  • Attend meetings as necessary

Qualifications

  • Social media familiarity: The Social Media Coordinator should be familiar with a range of social media platforms. Frequent usage of social media for personal or professional purposes will help the Social Media Marketing Coordinator to be successful. 
  • Excellent writing skills: The Social Media Coordinator should know how to craft messaging and understand the audience of MarketShare's social media platforms. A knack for correct grammar and clever, succinct writing is desired.

PR Manager

The Public Relations (PR) Manager reports to and partners with the Marketing Director. The key role of the PR Manager is to make MarketShare synonymous with building community for immigrant populations. They are able to develop stories that communicate and advance MarketShare's vision and provide positive quality exposure in the community. They also develop opportunities to engage and inspire the community about MarketShare.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of MarketShare and its mission
  • Lead a team of public relations professionals to achieve impactful community relations
  • Develop a brand market PR strategy consistent with MarketShare values and mission
  • Work closely with other leadership teams to promote effective branding and messaging for MarketShare
  • Provide guidance and thought leadership for long-term branding and awareness within the community
  • Establish processes that drive brand related conversations
  • Provide analysis and reporting of PR team efforts
  • Lead monthly PR meetings and attend staff meetings

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Leadership: The Public Relations Director possesses solid understanding of consumer messaging and effective branding. They are able to communicate those strategies clearly and effectively, collaborating across teams to develop long-term successful strategies.
  • Management: The Director manages and allocates resources as needed to achieve organizational and PR goals, including the PR team, budget, and other materials.
  • Communication: The Public Relations Director commands good people skills and effective communication. This requires strong communication skills in all areas (written, spoken, multimedia). They are also able to navigate in-person conversations to professional media interviews with ease.
  • Community: The PR Director understands the community at large and acts as liaison for the community voice as well as the voice of MarketShare in the community.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of MarketShare's mission and objectives 
  • Devise and drive MarketShare's social media strategy (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, blog, newsletter, etc.) 
  • Ensure social media strategy is being carried out by delegating responsibilities to and managing Social Media Marketing Coordinator(s) 
  • Use monthly tracking data to make social media strategy decisions 
  • Stay abreast of social media trends 
  • Attend meetings as necessary

  • Passion for MarketShare's mission: The Social Media Director must be aligned with and passionate about MarketShare's mission in order to truly promote MarketShare to outside audiences. 

  • Social media savvy: The Social Media Director must be savvy with a range of social media platforms and be able to optimize different types of content for the right platform. 
  • "Big picture" perspective: As the driver of MarketShare's overall social media strategy, the Social Media Director must be able to see the big picture of MarketShare's ongoings. 
  • Organizational skills: The Social Media Director must be able to coordinate social media responsibilities of one or more Social Media Marketing Coordinators and collaborate with all MarketShare teams.

The Marketing Director will manage all aspects of Marketing and Public Relations (PR) for MarketShare and the Campaign for King Street Station. The successful candidate will provide guidance and overall strategy to the creative teams including PR, Creative, and Social Media. The marketing Director will collaborate with the creative teams to ensure successful messaging and branding of MarketShare and its mission.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of MarketShare and its mission
  • Provide strategic and thought leadership related to MarketShare and its mission
  • Collaborate with creative teams to develop appropriate out-reach efforts to targeted communities
  • Provide guidance to creative teams
  • Partner with other teams and directors to develop creative strategies related to The Campaign for King Street Station
  • Attend monthly directors meetings
  • Conduct monthly creative team meetings

Grants Writer

This role reports to and partners with the Executive Director (Director). The Grants Writer will spearhead all grant writing opportunities for MarketShare and the Campaign for King Street Station. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of grant funding, including identification, cultivation, preparation, submission, and follow-up on grant applications (e.g., related correspondence). The Grants Writer will also manage the MarketShare grant calendar, including timelines and other related details. The Grants Writer will provide support to MarketShare by pursuing funding opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Gain thorough understanding of MarketShare, its mission and the programs targeted for funding. To do this, the successful candidate will interview key people in the organization and perform comprehensive research into relevant projects.
  • Perform in-depth research into grant-making organizations, grant guidelines and requirements
  • Strictly adhere to grant application guidelines 
  • Write grant applications that display meticulous grammar and written skills
  • Analyze the feasibility of the project's budget 
  • After submitting a grant proposal, keep in contact with each grant-making organization to check on the progress and provide proper follow-up
  • If requested, submit progress reports to any grant-making organization that has funded a program

Desired Skills and Abilities

  • Persuasive writing skills: You must be able to make your proposal sound so attractive that the grant-making organization will be happy to fulfill your request 
  • Analytical skills: A grant writer will need to use both analytical and creative skills. First, they will analyze the data. How much money can this project potentially receive? Which grant-making organizations would be most likely to fund this project? 
  • Creativity: The next step involves choosing the most creative solution for presenting the grant proposal. Where appropriate, the writer can use any combination of media to convey the grant proposal (visual, print media, radio).
  • Problem Solving: Creative problem solving is another talent that characterizes the best grant writers. This is especially important during weak economic times, when grant-making organizations are low on funds, and only the most convincing proposal will win the grant. The grant writer must take a Jedi attitude: "Do or do not. There is no try." 
  • Oral and Interpersonal Skills: In many cases, the grant writer job description will include face to face or telephone conversation with the grant-making organization. This requires charm, charisma and a dynamic personality. Ample social and interpersonal skills are a must.
  • Cost Consciousness: The grant writer must be frugal, and have the ability to work within the proposed budget. Ability to prioritize and work well under tight deadlines. 
  • Team player: Must be able to coordinate efforts with other departments.
